§ 30. Sir F. WISEasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the total cost to the revenue of the Imperial Preference for 1925 to date?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLOn the basis of a comparison of the amount of duty paid in the period on goods subject to preference with the amount that would have been payable on the same goods had there been no preference the estimated cost to the revenue of Imperial Preference during the nine months, January to September of the present year, is £2,309,000. It will be appreciated that this figure does not take into account any effect on consumption that may have resulted from the alterations in duty on Empire goods.
