asked the Home Secretary whether he gave his permission to Sir Basil Thomson to use official documents in Scotland Yard as the basis of his article in. "English Life "; and, if not, whether he proposes to take any action in the matter?

The reply to the first part of the question is in the negative. If my right hon. Friend had any evidence that official documents had been used as the basis of this article, he would certainly consider the possibility of taking action, as he most strongly deprecates publications of this nature

Is there not a rule attached to the conditions of appointment of such an officer to the effect that he shall not use any information which he may have obtained in his official capacity?
