Mr. CHAMBERLAINUp to 1st March, 1925, 53 local authorities in England and Wales had commenced work by direct labour on schemes approved under the Housing Acts of 1923 and 1924. The total number of houses in these schemes is 4,531. The total number of houses included in contracts let by local authorities on the 1st March was 57,612.
