HC Deb 25 March 1925 vol 182 c437
Mr. LEES SMITH

(by Private Notice) asked the Home Secretary whether any changes have been made in the last few days in the arrangements with regard to the political prisoners from Northern Ireland imprisoned in this country?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

No, Sir.

Mr. SMITH

In view of the fact, of which I think the right hon. Gentleman is aware, that arrangements are being made for one of these prisoners to sue for a writ of habeas corpus in order to contest the legality of his detention, can we be assured that the other prisoners will be kept in their present position until this legal issue is determined?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I have no intention at all of altering the position of any of the prisoners The answer is quite categorical: no arrangements have been made for any alteration. I have no intention of making any alteration, and will not do so without communicating with the House.
