HC Deb 23 March 1925 vol 182 c18
42. Mr. H. WILLIAMS

asked the Minister of Agriculture the estimated world production of wheat during the present cereal year and the estimated world demand for wheat during the same period?

Mr. WOOD

The total world's production of wheat in the cereal year 1924–25 is estimated by the International Institute of Agriculture at 1,648 million cwts. The estimated requirements are approximately the same. The above figures exclude the production in Russia and China, and in certain other countries which are of comparatively minor importance.

Mr. WILLIAMS

Do the figures exclude the consumption of wheat in Russia as well as excluding its production in Russia?

Mr. WOOD

I am not sure about that.
