HC Deb 12 March 1925 vol 181 cc1486-7
102. Major HORE-BELISHA

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what arrangements are in existence for dealing with or discussing superannuation questions affecting civil servants and ex-civil servants not represented upon the National Whitley Council?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Guinness)

The discussion of superannuation questions is within the scope of the Civil Service National Whitley Council or the various Departmental Councils. Civil servants who are not represented on those councils and ex-civil servants are free to make representations, should they so desire, through the head of their Department.

103. Major HORE-BELISHA

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether, geeing that any broken period of service is proportionately reckonable in calculating an airman's pension, he will apply the same practice with regard to the pensions of civil servants?

Mr. GUINNESS

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave him on the 18th December last. I am not prepared to introduce legislation to amend the Superannuation Acts in the direction suggested in the question.

Major HORE-BELISHA

Does not the right hon. Gentleman consider that it is exceedingly unfair to deprive pensioners of a sum of money which they have earned?
