HC Deb 12 March 1925 vol 181 c1504
50. Captain GARRO-JONES

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the sustained rise in many food prices, he will represent to the Royal Commission on Food Prices the desirability of expediting their first Report?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

I have been asked to reply. The chairman of the Royal Commission has assured me that the first Report will be presented at the earliest possible moment.

Captain GARRO-JONES

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that that has been the case for the last three or four months, ever since the Commission was started, and that those who expected great things are now becoming disheartened and disillusioned?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

I am not responsible for the sentiments of the hon. and gallant Member, but it is true that from the moment the Commission started they have worked at the highest possible pressure, in order to report as soon as posible, and the result will be seen in an early Report.

Mr. C. DUNCAN

is the Commission working overtime?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

Yes, Sir, and without extra pay.
