HC Deb 12 March 1925 vol 181 c1513
77. Mr. SCURR

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that many boards of guardians require children who are at work but living at home to contribute towards the cost of maintaining able-bodied parents, although there is no legal liability upon them so to do; and whether he will issue instructions to boards of guardians informing them that the only income which can be taken into account is the amount contributed by the children to the support of the home, and not the full amount of the children's earnings, as is the present practice in many cases?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave on the 26th February to the hon. Member for Stratford, in reply to a similar question.
