MACLEAN) asked the President of the Board of Trade the number of claims 1133 lodged with the Russian Claims Department of the Board of Trade against the Soviet Government for loss of occupation arising from the change of Government in Russia and the total sum originally claimed; whether the legitimacy of any of these claims has been investigated by the Claims Department; whether any claims have been disallowed or reduced in amount; and, if so, what is the total sum now claimed?

CUNLIFFE-LISTERThe number of claims made specifically for salaries, wages and commission is 147; I am unable to state the total sum claimed, as in a number of instances no precise figure is given by the claimants. The reply to the second part of the question is in the negative, and the third and fourth parts consequently do not arise.
