HC Deb 29 June 1925 vol 185 cc2013-4
59. Mr. BOWERMAN

asked the Postmaster-General if he is aware that the sub-post office at New Cross Road, Deptford, has been removed to a comparatively inconvenient position; whether such office has been established there permanently or temporarily; and when it is intended to give effect to the promise given in July, 1924, to establish a district post office in the New Cross Road between the South-Eastern Railway station and the Broadway?

The ASSISTANT POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Viscount Wolmer)

The sub-postmistress at 393, New Cross Road, Deptford, resigned her appointment in February last, and the office was moved about 80 yards to the premises of the only applicant. The question of estab- lishing a branch office in New Cross Road will be reconsidered in about a year's time, as explained to a deputation from the Deptford Borough Council in July last, and, in the event of a branch office being opened, the sub-office in question would probably be closed.
