HC Deb 29 June 1925 vol 185 cc1993-4
26. Mr. KELLY

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware that the Trades Union (Constitution) Act, disfranchising Maltese trades unions that are affiliated to British trades unions, was passed without having in the Maltese assembly the majority of two-thirds required by the constitution; and whether, seeing the Act has been reserved for the assent of His Majesty, he will say what action he proposes to take in regard to this Measure?

Mr. AMERY

The Bill referred to has not yet reached me. When it does, I will consider the points raised by the hon. Member before tendering any advice to His Majesty with regard to it.

Sir HARRY BRITTAIN

How many Maltese trade unions are there in working order?

Mr. AMERY

I could not answer that question off-hand.
