55. Mr. T. THOMSONasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether any of the more valuable plumage seized under the Importation of Plumage (Prohibition) Act, 1921, has been sold for 1294 re-export; and whether any instructions have been issued which would permit of this being done?
Mr. GUINNESSThe answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. As regards the second part, I am informed that the existing Departmental instructions do not permit of the sale of seized plumage for re-export.
