HC Deb 27 July 1925 vol 187 c7
14. Mr. SNELL

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the number of grants of land originally made under the soldier settlers' scheme in Kenya Colony, and the number of the original grantees now occupying their grants?

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

1,031 farms were allotted, of which 215 have reverted to the Government and 46 have not yet been taken up, as the allottees are still serving. Of the remaining 770, 734 are being worked, and as it is known that 225 have been transferred from the original allottees, the number being worked, and in most cases occupied, by the original allottees is between 519 and 545.
