HC Deb 23 July 1925 vol 186 cc2416-7
61. Mr. BATEY for

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the number and total amounts during 1924 of Army, Navy, teachers, Civil Service and police pensions paid; the average age at retirement; and the average duration of the respective pensions?

Mr. GUINNESS

I understood that these questions have been postponed by the hon. Member in whose name they stand.

Mr. SPEAKER

As I have pointed out before, hon. Members must not ask questions on behalf of other Members unless they have been specifically requested so to do; and this is a further intimation to the House.

Mr. BATEY

May I explain, Sir? My hon. Friend and I had an arrangement that he should put some questions for me last week, and that whenever he had any, and was away, I would put his for him.

Mr. SPEAKER

It must be a specific request as to specific questions.
