§ 80. Major CLIFTON BROWNasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury in what manner the review on women's pay in the Civil Services was carried out; whether a definite committee was formed; whether there was an agenda; and if there are any written minutes, evidence, or findings which can be published?
Mr. GUINNESSThe question of the remuneration of women in the Civil Service as compared with men was fully reviewed by the present Government, and their decision was announced in the reply which the Chancellor of the Exchequer gave to the hon. and gallant Member on the 5th March last. No committee was considered necessary.
Mr. GUINNESSThere was no statement as to whether it would be formal or informal. The matter has been fully reviewed by the Government and, for the same financial reasons that obtained when the House decided against it, it has been found necessary to decide against it again.
