HC Deb 14 July 1925 vol 186 c1055
24. Mr. WESTWOOD

asked the Secretary for Scotland if he proposes to set up a Committee for the purpose of inquiring into the education of unemployed juveniles; if so, when the Committee will be set up; and what will be the terms of reference or scope of the inquiry?

Sir J. GILMOUR

I propose, in consultation with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour, to appoint a Committee for Scotland with the same terms of reference as assigned to the Committee for England and Wales, namely: to inquire into and advise upon the public system of education in Scotland in relation to the requirements of trade and industry, with particular reference to the adequacy of the arrangements for enabling young persons to enter into and retain suitable employment. I am not yet in a, position to announce the names of the members of the Committee.

Mr. WESTWOOD

May I ask when the Committee is to be set up?

Sir J. GILMOUR

I hope to do it shortly.
