§ 50. Major HORE-BELISHAasked the Secretary of State for Air whether his Department is making full use of His Majesty's dockyard. Devonport; and what is the value of the stores and other supplies ordered from Devonport by his Department in the course of the past financial year?
§ The SECRETARY of STATE for AIR (Sir Samuel Hoare)As regards the first part of the question, full use is made, whenever possible, of the facilities afforded by this and other dockyards, the allocation to any particular dockyard of the orders for marine craft, marine craft repairs, cordage and other stores requisitioned by this Department being a matter for the Admiralty. As regards the second part of the question, the claims presented show that the cost of stores ordered and work done for the Air Ministry at Dovonport Dockyard in 1924–25 amounted to, approximately, £3,800.
§ Major HORE-BELISHAWill the right hon. Gentleman say if any stores that could be purchased from Government supplies are purchased from private concerns?
§ Sir S. HOAREI could not say without notice. If the hon. and gallant Gentleman will put a question down, I will give him an answer.
