HC Deb 13 July 1925 vol 186 c835
4. Brigadier - General CHARTERIS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether in considering the representations of the memorial submitted by the Foremen's Association of India, he will take into consideration the fact that the pay of these men does not permit them properly to educate their children, and hardly to educate them at all; and whether, as it is undesirable that the children should thus suffer, he will see whether, in respect to this particular aspect of the document submitted, he can make reasonable concessions?

Earl WINTERTON

My Noble Friend is in correspondence with the Government of India regarding the question of educational facilities for the children of officers of the foreman class in India, and I can assure the hon. and gallant Member that the matter will receive careful consideration.
