HC Deb 13 July 1925 vol 186 cc839-40
16. Captain W. SHAW

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department why there is a charge of 6d. for admittance to the cinema hall at the British Government pavilion at Wembley; and, in view of the fact that the tour, of the Prince of Wales is at present being shown there and that the corresponding cinemas of our Dominions and Colonies are free, will he undertake to cancel the present charge?

Mr. A. M. SAMUEL (Secretary, Overseas Trade Department)

The charge of 6d. was imposed in order to obtain revenue against the cost of running the cinema. As regards the second part of the question, I will consider my hon. and gallant Friend's suggestion, I may add that, so far as I am aware, the complete film of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales' tour could not be seen elsewhere at less than this small cost.
