HC Deb 09 July 1925 vol 186 cc601-2
53. Mr. CHARLES CROOK

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he will consider the advisability of extending the hours of opening of public museums and galleries during Summer Time?

Mr. GUINNESS

Most of the museums and galleries are open till six o'clock, and the Victoria and Albert Museum is open till nine o'clock on two nights of the week. In view of the very considerable extra expense of staff which would be involved by even one hour's extension, I do not think I should be justified in arranging for any alteration in the present hours of opening.
