asked the Prime Minister whether he can now make any statement with regard to the status of the Secretary for Scotland?

asked the Prime Minister whether he is yet in a position to announce a decision regarding the status of the Secretary for Scotland!

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Baldwin)

Yes, Sir. The King has been graciously pleased to approve my recommendation that the status of the Secretary for Scotland should be raised to that of a Secretary of State. The necessary legislation to bring this into effect will be introduced at the earliest date convenient next Session.

May I ask the Prime Minister whether this alteration in the status of the Secretary for Scotland will mean any alteration in the salary attached to it?
