HC Deb 17 December 1925 vol 189 c1620
63. Lieut.-Colonel JAMES

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that Communist leaflets of an indictable character, printed in a foreign country, have recently been circulated amongst certain groups of students, particularly those of Indian birth, at Oxford University; whether he is in a position to give any information as to the sources of origin of these leaflets and the channels used for their distribution; and whether he has taken any action in the matter?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I am aware of certain undesirable activities which have been carried on among Indian students at Oxford, but I trust my hon. and gallant Friend will not press me to make any further statement as to my action in the matter.

Lieut.-Colonel JAMES

In view of the Fleet Order published this morning, is the right hon. Gentleman contemplating possible action by this Department in the future?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I would ask my hon. and gallant Friend not to press this matter.

Mr. MACLEAN

Will the right hon. Gentleman consult the new Assistant-Commissioner in London?
