HC Deb 10 December 1925 vol 189 cc637-8
25. Mr. COMPTON

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he will reconsider the proposal to merge the Salford, Eccles, and District War Pensions Committee into the Manchester War Pensions Committee, in view of the fact that a committee covering such a large and congested area will entail hardship on ex-service men in the outer districts having to travel to Manchester?

Major TRYON

There has been no proposal to merge the two committees mentioned by the hon. Member. An alteration in the control of the staff and office arrangements in Salford is under consideration, and has been referred to the two committees concerned for their observations, but it is not in contemplation that the office there should be closed.
