§ Mr. ARTHUR HENDERSONWill the Prime Minister tell us what is the business to be taken on Wednesday; and also the date on which the House is going to adjourn, and when it will be expected to resume after the Summer Recess?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI am afraid that the statement is rather a long one. The business of the House for Monday and Tuesday was announced last week.
§ Wednesday, 5th August: Appropriation Rill: Second Reading.
§ Thursday, 8th August: Supplementary Estimate for the Mines Department in Committee.
§ Friday, 7th August: Report of the Supplementary Estimate for the Mines Department.
§ Appropriation Bill; remaining stages.
§ Saturday, 8th August: Motion for the Summer Adjournment, until Monday, 16th November.
§ To-morrow, after the conclusion of the Business of Supply, we shall consider the
§ Honours (Prevention of Abuses) Bill [Lords], Committee: National Library of Scotland Bill [Lords], Report and Third Reading.
956§ It will be necessary, before the Adjournment, to consider the Lords Amendments, if any, to the following Bills which have already passed this House:

- Diseases of Animals;
- Public Works Loans:
- Roads Improvement;
- Sandwich Port and Haven;
- Summer Time;
- Telegraph (Money);
- Unemployment Insurance:
- Widows', Orphans' and Old Age Contributory Pensions;
- Wireless Telegraphy (Explanation).
§ The Bills now before Parliament which will be postponed for consideration in the autumn are as follow:
- All stages of the
- Coastguard [Lords];
- Circuit Courts and Criminal Proceedings (Scotland) [Lords];
- Dangerous Drugs [Lords];
- Education (Scotland);
- Expiring Laws;

§ Lieut. - Commander KENWORTHYWhat time will the House meet on Friday?
§ The PRIME MINISTERAt the usual time.
§ Mr. MACKINDERWas it not the intention of the Government to rise on Friday under ordinary circumstances? Is there really any reason for the House sitting on Saturday?
§ The PRIME MINISTERNo one would be better pleased than I if it could be possible to bring our proceedings to an end on Friday, and I hope very much that communications may take place on that subject through the usual channels. It it could be arranged, it would meet the convenience of the House, and would, I am sure, be to everyone's advantage.
§ Sir GRATTAN DOYLEWhat does the right hon. Gentleman mean by the "usual time" on Friday—11 o'clock or 2.45?
§ The PRIME MINISTEREleven o'clock is the usual time on Friday.
§ Mr. RUNCIMANWould it be possible to arrange to take the Report stage of the Coal Mines Vote after the Appropriation Bill on Friday? I understand that when the Appropriation Bill is discussed on Friday there is likely to be some conversation of the subject of public expenditure. Would it be possible to take that before the Report stage of the Coal Mines Resolution?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI am afraid the Report stage must be taken, but I hope very much, in view of the fact that we shall have had the whole of Thursday, that the Report stage may be taken, as the Report stage very often is, as a formal matter.
§ Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHYIs it proposed to rise at 4 o'clock on Friday, or do we go right on?
§ The PRIME MINISTERThat, of course, is a matter of arrangement. If it were possible to conclude on Friday, no doubt an arrangement could be made with the consent of the House.
§ Mr. MAXTONHaving regard to the very serious state of affairs in the country with reference to industrial troubles and unemployment, and in view of the Prime Minister's announcement as to the length of the Recess, would the House be reassembled in the event of the troubles becoming more serious in the interim?
§ The PRIME MINISTERThere is always power to call the House together.
§ Mr. MAXTONWould the right hon. Gentleman give us an assurance that, in the event of any serious trouble arising, the House would be summoned?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI cannot imagine that such an assurance is necessary. I have no hesitation in giving it.
§
