HC Deb 26 May 1924 vol 174 c21
26. Mr. GRAHAM WHITE

asked the Prime Minister if the Government have made any proposals to, or received any proposals from, other Governments with the object of preventing the use of poison gas in future warfare?

Mr. CLYNES

This question was the subject of Article V of the Treaty signed at Washington on 6th February, 1922, the United States of America, the British Empire, France, Italy and Japan. The Assembly of the League of Nations have requested a special committee to prepare a report on the effects of chemical discoveries in the case of war. The committee has not yet reported.

Mr. WHITE

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when the Committee is likely to report?

Mr. CLYNES

At present I am not able to say.
