HC Deb 10 March 1924 vol 170 cc1922-3
85. Sir W. de FRECE

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department the amount of cotton bought in the United States of America, respectively, by Great Britain and Germany in the last five years, giving both the volume and the value?

Mr. LUNN

The answer contains a table of figures, and the hon. Member will, perhaps, allow me to have it circulated in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Following in the answer:

The following statement shows the quantity and value of the raw cotton exported from the United States of America during each of the years 1919 to 1923, inclusive, which was registered as exported to the United Kingdom and to Germany, respectively:

No information is available showing the quantities of cotton purchased by the nationals of particular countries. It must, however, be noted that the exports to some countries include quantities of cotton which are ultimately delivered at a destination different from that shown by the export records.
