HC Deb 22 July 1924 vol 176 cc1111-2
40. Mr. BAKER

asked the Minister of Transport whether, having regard to the decision not to deal with the public nuisance caused by steam tractors emitting sparks and dense smoke during their progress on the public highway in the proposed Smoke Abatement Bill, he will state what steps he is proposing to take to deal with the matter?

The MINISTER of TRANSPORT (Mr. Gosling)

I do not propose to take any steps in the matter. The enforcement of the existing law is a matter for the police authorities.
