HC Deb 22 July 1924 vol 176 c1111
38. Mr. BAKER

asked the Secretary for Mines whether his attention has been called to the decision of the American authorities to test wireless as a means of saving life in mining disasters; and whether he will undertake investigations on similar lines?

The SECRETARY for MINES (Mr. Shinwell)

I am aware that experiments have been made in the United States. Experimental work on a small scale has also been undertaken privately in this country, and my Department is watching developments both here and abroad. I will communicate my hon. Friend's suggestion to the Safety in Mines Research Board.
