§ 39. Sir W. de FRECEasked the Secretary for Mines the causes explanatory of the recent diminution of our coal exports and give the direction in which this diminution has taken place?
§ Mr. SHINWELLThe recent diminution of our coal exports is, no doubt, chiefly due to the resumption of coal-getting in the Ruhr district, from which Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Italy are now drawing a large part of the supplies which were drawn in 1923 from Great Britain.
