HC Deb 22 July 1924 vol 176 cc1110-1
36. Mr. CLARKE

asked the Under-Secretary to the Scottish Board of Health if he is aware that there is a serious shortage of domestic water supply in the district surrounding Ratho station, in the County of Midlothian; and, as this condition has continued for several years, causing serious hardship and great inconvenience to the inhabitants, what steps does he propose to take in order to effect a remedy so that the health of the people may be safeguarded?

Mr. ADAMSON

I am aware that there has been a considerable shortage of water in many parts of the Calder district of Midlothian, including the area referred to by my hon. Friend. The county council have promoted a Provisional Order to enable them to provide an adequate supply for the Calder district, and the Bill to confirm the Order was introduced in this House yesterday.
