Mr. LANSBURYasked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he will state the amount of revenue received by the Indian Government from the sale of opium and alcoholic liquors in British India for the past 10 years; and whether the representatives of the Indian people, through the Legislative Assembly, will he allowed to send representatives to the Opium Conference which is shortly to be held under the auspices of the League of Nations?
§ Mr. RICHARDSThe figures are being prepared and I will circulate them in the OFFICIAL REPORT as soon as possible. India will be represented at the two Conferences on opium smoking and the manufacture of drugs to be held this autumn. In selecting representatives my Noble Friend will follow the procedure adopted in the case of the Indian delegation at the assembly of the League of Nations.
