Mr. BAKERasked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether there is any barrier to prevent a fully qualified Indian practising as a consulting engineer in India; and, if not, whether he will inquire how it is that, whilst Indian consulting engineers are able to undertake highly important contracts elsewhere, all commissions in India are given to a very limited number of favoured British firms?
§ Mr. RICHARDSI know of no such barrier. As regards the second part of the question, if my hon. Friend will give me particulars of any case that has come to his notice an inquiry will be made.
