HC Deb 09 July 1924 vol 175 c2238
36. Mr. D. G. SOMERVILLE

asked the Minister of Labour what number of men over 60 years of age were struck off uncovenanted unemployment benefit during the month of June this year?

Mr. SHAW

I regret that no statistics are available on this point.

Mr. SOMERVILLE

Is it a fact that these men over 60 when paid off are removed to the workhouse? Can the right hon. Gentleman tell me if there are any cases of the kind?

Mr. SHAW

I have no information. If the hon. Gentleman will supply me with particulars I will look into them.
