HC Deb 07 July 1924 vol 175 c1765
47. Mr. J. J. O'NEILL

asked the Prime Minister if the Government will introduce a Bill for the abolition in the United Kingdom of titles of all descriptions, hereditary and otherwise?

The PRIME MINISTER

This question has not been considered by His Majesty's Government.

Mr. T. JOHNSTON

Would the Prime Minister say if he would consider that such a step taken now would be grossly unfair to those who have paid for their titles?

Major the Marquess of TITCHFIELD

Is it not a fact that since last December the Prime Minister's life has been made miserable by hon. and right hon. Gentlemen behind him clamouring for titles?
