§ 62. Sir F. WISEasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what are the total loans issued by the Government of Kenya; and what is the maximum and minimum interest charged on the loans?
Mr. THOMASThe only loan issued by the Government of Kenya is the 6 per cent. loan of £5,000,000 raised in 1921. In addition, the hon. Member will be aware that early this year the House voted a sum of £3,500,000 to the Governments of Kenya and Uganda for transport development, interest on which, at 5 per 1770 cent., will begin to be due after the first five years. No other loans are outstanding.
