HC Deb 08 March 1923 vol 161 c716
64. Sir GODFREY COLLINS

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the amount of war stores still unsold on 1st January, 1923?

Mr. BALDWIN

A re-valuation of surpluses was made early last month. As stated in my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Moseley on the 20th ultimo, the estimated value of War surpluses, including lands, buildings and factories, in the hands of the Disposal Board and still unsold was approximately £12,000,000.

Mr. W. THORNE

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether the revenue received from War stores is going to reduce the National Debt, or towards paying the National expenditure?

Mr. BALDWIN

It. has been charged ever since the War against revenue.
