§ 5. Mr. A. V. ALEXANDERasked the Minister of Pensions whether he is aware that Mr. A. Jowe, of 21, Blair Athol Road, Ecclesall, Sheffield, joined the Army on 2nd June, 1915, and served for over three years; that pensions at various rates were paid to Mr. Jowe until about 12 months ago; that Mr. Jowe's pension was stopped on the ground that the war service disability had passed away; that Mr. Jowe is suffering from debility and sepsis, and his former employers regard 688 his complaint as so serious that they cannot give him employment; that there is medical testimony to say that. Mr. Jowe was not suffering from either of these complaints previous to war service and, in spite of these facts, Mr. Jowe's appeal has been disallowed; and that this ex-service man is still under treatment at the present time; and what steps he proposes to take to remove the injustice in this case?
§ Major TRYONThis man was awarded a 20 per cent. pension from October. 1919, to December, 1920. The next examining medical board found no remaining disablement from debility, and that finding was subsequently confirmed by a medical appeal board. The decision of the Ministry has been upheld on appeal by the Pensions Appeal Tribunal and is now therefore final.
§ Mr. ALEXANDERIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that this man's pre-War employers are refusing him employment because he is unfit by reason of his military service?
§ Major TRYONI can only repeat that the various boards which have examined this man found no disablement.
