HC Deb 26 July 1923 vol 167 c691
35. Mr. SMEDLEY CROOKE

asked the Home Secretary if he can give an estimate of the annual cost involved by the Commissioner of Police's new efficiency test for taxi-cabs; the number of additional inspectors required to carry out the tests; and whether the cost of the same will fall on the State?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

No additional cost will be occasioned by the proposed test as the journey will include that already taken to test the accuracy of the taximeter. No additional staff will be required, and no cost will fall upon the State.
