Mr. CHAMBERLAIN187 schemes providing for the erection of 13,382 houses by local authorities and 37 schemes providing for the erection of 3,486 houses by private enterprise have been approved under the Housing Bill.
60. Mr. T. THOMSONasked the Minister of Health if he will give the latest information available as to the applications received for the erection of houses under the various schemes permitted by his new Housing Bill, the number sanctioned, and the number he estimates likely to be put in hand before the end of the year?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINUp-to-date pro posals under the Bill have been submitted for the erection of approximately 22,000 houses and approvals have been given in respect of 16,868 houses. I have no means of estimating the number likely to be put in hand before the end of the year.
