HC Deb 23 July 1923 vol 167 c3
1. Mr. SPOOR

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether any of the provincial Governors have indicated in any way the opinion that, in view of the present situation in India, steps should be taken to hasten the inquiry into the working of the reforms?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Earl Winterton)

I am not aware of any such suggestion.

Mr. SPOOR

Will the Noble Lord ascertain the opinion of the provincial Governors, particularly of the Governors of the United Provinces and of Madras?

Earl WINTERTON

I stated in my answer that I am not aware of any such suggestion.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

Is it not the practice to have an inquiry in such cases?

Sir HENRY CRAIK

Is it not the case that an inquiry into the working of the reforms is due in 10 years' time?
