HC Deb 05 July 1923 vol 166 cc623-4
85. Mr. SIMPSON

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether the vacancies in the United Provinces Council caused by the resignation of two ministers have been filled; and, if so, who have been appointed to those posts?

Earl WINTERTON

Yes, Sir. By a notification dated the 17th May, the Governor announced the appointment of Raja Parmanand, Rai Bahadur, and of Lieutenant Nawab Muhammad Ahmad Sa'id Khan, C.I.E., M.B.E., of Chhatari, to fill these vacancies, and both gentlemen assumed charge of their office on the same date.

Mr. SIMPSON

I did not catch the name of the second gentleman?

Earl WINTERTON

I gave it to the hon. Member in Arabic. I will give it to him in another language afterwards, if he likes.
