HC Deb 05 July 1923 vol 166 cc620-1
76. Mr. GAVAN DUFFY

asked the Minister of Health if he can now state, as the result of the communications he has had with the Cumberland Nursing Association and the county council, what particular sections of the Maternity and Child Welfare Acts are to be enforced on Cleator Moor; and will he take steps to ensure that, whatever extensions of the present services are made, a properly constituted maternity and child welfare committee shall be set up to see that the instructions of the Ministry are duly carried out?

Lord E. PERCY

The responsibility of administering the Maternity and Child Welfare Act in Cleator Moor rests with the Cumberland County Council, which has a properly constituted maternity and child welfare committee. My right hon. Friend is still awaiting particulars which the county council have promised to send me of the work now carried out by them in Cleator Moor, and on receipt of this information he will communicate it to the hon. Member.
