HC Deb 05 July 1923 vol 166 c589
10. Mr. HARDIE

asked the Minister of Pensions whether, with regard to the widows' department, life certificates, No. 1, paragraphs 8 and 9, by which the head teacher of a school is required to certify the child's existence, he can so alter the Regulation that, in the absence of the head teacher, a class teacher may sign such certificates?

Major TRYON

In the temporary absence of the head teacher, the signature of the teacher acting in his stead would be accepted. I see no reason, therefore, for amending the existing Regulation, which is statutory.
