20. Mr. GILBERT

asked the Home Secretary the number of Metropolitan police who were employed at Ascot during the recent race week; whether the racing authorities pay the whole cost of such police or whether any charge is made on the Metropolitan Police Rate; if so, can he state what charge; will he state if any of the police employed were required to stay at Ascot during the race days: and what kind of sleeping accommodation was provided for the men by the authorities?
