HC Deb 04 July 1923 vol 166 cc426-7
59. Mr. LEACH

asked the Attorney-General if he will arrange that all judgments given in the High Court of Justice for £20 or over and unsatisfied at the expiration of 21 days from the day judgment is given shall be registered in the registry of judgments, the same as is done with County Court judgments?

The ATTORNEY-GENERAL (Sir Douglas Hogg)

I have no reason to suppose that there is any demand for such a registry as suggested by the hon. Member, or that any real advantage would be gained by its institution. Furthermore, the suggestion is impracticable. In 1922, 29,219 judgments were signed for sums over £20 in the King's Bench Division alone, and the Court has no means of knowing in respect of any one of them whether it was satisfied within 21 days, or at all.
