asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he can inform the House the value of goods liable to the provisions of the German Reparation (Recovery) Act, 1921, which have been imported into the country for the three months ending the 31st December, 1922, and the three months ending the 31st March, 1923, respectively?

The amount of German Reparation Levy collected during the three months ended the 31st December, 1922, was-£1,953,058, and during the three months ended 31st March, 1923, £2,096,594. These amounts represent 26 per cent. of the value of the goods on which levy was charged in these periods, exclusive of freight and insurance.
