HC Deb 12 April 1923 vol 162 c1289
38. Mr. HURD

asked the Home Secretary whether he has received representations from organisations of women electors as to the urgent need of further legislation in order that punishment may fall upon both sexes in cases brought before magistrates on charges referring to disorderly houses; and what action he proposes to take?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I have received two representations on the subject Persons who keep disorderly houses are equally amenable to the law irrespective of their sex, and I know of no reason for an amendment of the law in this respect.

Mr. SHINWELL

Will the right hon. Gentleman take steps to deal with the landlords who own these disorderly houses?
