HC Deb 26 June 1922 vol 155 c1673
52. Lord H. CAVENDISH-BENTINCK

asked the President of the Board of Education whether, in view of the number of juveniles out of employment, he will, in conjunction with the Minister for Labour, institute classes similar to those provided during the period of demobilisation after the War?

Mr. FISHER

I regret that, in present financial circumstances, I do not feel justified in asking my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer to agree to the expenditure which the Noble Lord's proposal would involve.

Lord H. CAVENDISH-BENTINCK

Is not the gross waste in subjecting the juveniles in this country to the demoralisation involved in idleness?
