Major Sir BERTRAM FALLEasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty if he is aware that many men were invalided from the Royal Navy during the War from accidents or from physical breakdown; if such will receive the full rate of prize money as if they had been able to serve through the 30 months; and if this will apply to pre-War invalids who were called up and again invalided on service?
§ Mr. AMERYThe Prize Proclamation provides that the maximum rates of prize money which could have been earned by service shall be allowed, irrespective of the actual time served at sea, in all cases in which, before completion of the qualifying period, officers and men were invalided or certified as medically fit for shore service only as a result of wounds or injuries sustained whilst on qualifying service, and that a similar rate shall he allowed in cases in which officers and men were invalided on account of disease attributable to, the service, provided that at least 10 months' qualifying service had been rendered. Prize money being a grant in respect of sea. service only, this concession cannot be applied to all those invalided, regardless of whether they rendered qualifying service or not.
