HC Deb 26 July 1922 vol 157 c431
3. Colonel NEWMAN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs why the Kingdom of Greece is still without full official recognition at the Court of St. James?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

The decision not to recognise King Constantine was taken in conjunction with our Allies on political grounds. Nothing has since occurred that has disposed the Allies to modify their policy in this regard.

Colonel NEWMAN

Is it simply a case of our Allies objecting to King Constantine?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

I must have notice of any further questions.

Mr. A. HERBERT

Were the representatives of King Constantine at Genoa recognised, and is it not futile to recognise the representatives of a monarch without recognising the monarch himself?

Sir H. BRITTAIN

Is it not all important that we should co-operate entirely with our Allies in this question?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

As regards any further questions, perhaps hon. Members will give me notice.
